I want to say that we are a different gaming website but who knows what different is, I wanted a space where I can speak about games I like, stories that stay with me and everything else gaming related, I also wanted to target this at the older generation of gamers. The gamers who game while nursing a small child or play their Steam Deck while waiting for a child to go to sleep. Along with the average worker who games to de stress from their day, so I said fuck it. Lets just make a website that does that and here we are, welcome to NightMode Gaming.
I’ve always enjoyed gaming, but in saying that, ive always been terrible at FPS. I jumped on the Fortnite bandwagon and realised that I was terrible and put it down, same with Apex Legends and COD. Ive always enjoyed FPS games but on story mode where I can suck in peace, kind of like the good old day of ‘No Russian’ in Modern Warfare 2. Unfortunately I feel like those days are gone when it comes to COD. Fortunately there are a number of other games that deserve our attention. My horrible reaction in FPS games made me put down my controller for a long time because there was a period in the mid 2010’s where it was all about loot boxes and open world online survival, I grew up during the Grand Theft Auto era with storylines that stuck for days after you finished. Those games taught me that gaming was about getting lost in something bigger and fortunately, I believe that we are heading back into the gaming era with titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei, RDR2, Cyberpunk and the Witcher series among a list of other strong contenders.
The aim of this is to tailor something toward both current gen gamers and the old school PS1 era gamers, as well as the parents who game after their kids go to bed or when they come home to a quiet house. The people who dont want their ass kicked in Fortnite by a 12 year old that has the dexterity of an Olympic athlete. I’m a parent to two small kids. I work full-time and somehow amongst all of that I study full-time at university, so I know what it means to have limited gaming time and its also important to find the right balance.

I game on almost anything, I have a warship of a gaming PC with enough RGB’s to make it look like Santa’s landing strip, I have a PS5 and PlayStation Portal along with a ROG Ally and a Asus TUF gaming laptop, some say its overkill, I just like tech and options. My Xbox went the way of the Dodo bird and is no longer but I will chat about why at some point.
I’m not a journalist, I don’t want to be. I’m just a player who’s been around long enough to know what makes a game feel right, the kind of game that is a joy to turn on after a pain in the ass day. The games that keep you thinking after you’ve turned them off. The ones that remind you why you fell in love with gaming in the first place.
The plan for NightMode is to just see where it takes us, im not here for money, im here for the love of gaming and I guarantee that you will never see a single popup ad on this site. I’ll post about what I’m playing, what I’ve finished and what’s caught my attention. You’ll find reviews, thoughts and general reflections about gaming. What it’s like to juggle everything and still find time to play. I’ll talk about the good stuff and the disappointments. The games that surprised me and the ones that just wasted an evening.
As we grow, I will branch out into a few things. Maybe some small community features, youtube videos, discord channels and eventually a podcast but for now, this is it.
