About Us

NightMode gaming is here for the casual gamers. The behind the scenes players who dont want to be Twitch famous or master every skill level. We are for the Mum’s and Dad’s who put in an hour or two of gaming after putting the kids to bed. We are for the silent gamers who want to enjoy a relaxing story over getting their ass handed to them in Fortnight.

NightMode is created and maintained by Brett, an avid gamer who sucks at FPS but grew up during the Grand Theft Auto lore so loves a good story driven game. I am a parent to two small kids, work full time and attend university full time. I loathe picking up a game and it turning out to be rubbish which wastes my valuable gaming time.

NightMode gaming provides reviews, console recommendations, advice and lots of other topics. We’ve got work, families and routines that don’t leave much space for gaming marathons, but that doesn’t mean we stopped caring. We still play just in smaller chunks, later at night, and for different reasons than we used to.

This isn’t about keeping up with every release or arguing about which console’s better. It’s about enjoying games in the quiet hours. It’s about putting on a headset when the house finally goes still, or loading up a save file that’s been waiting for you all week. It’s about the small breaks that remind you who you are outside of everything else going on.

We talk about games that fit into real life. The ones that don’t demand 40 hours a week. The ones that make you feel something even if you only play for a little while. Maybe that’s a slow exploration game, a cozy indie, or a story that sticks with you long after you shut it off.

NightMode Gaming isn’t trying to be another review site. We’re just here to talk about the side of gaming that doesn’t always get the spotlight. The comfort titles, the hidden gems, and the stuff that hits harder when you play it late at night.

For a lot of us, gaming is still how we relax, think, and reconnect with something that’s ours. It’s not about nostalgia it’s about keeping that spark alive. The way we play might have changed, but why we play hasn’t

Why We’re Here

We started NightMode Gaming because gaming doesn’t stop when life gets busy. The days of endless sessions and all-night raids might be gone, but the love for games isn’t. For a lot of us, gaming has become something different. It’s the quiet break at the end of a long day. It’s a story that helps you unwind. It’s time that’s just yours, when everything else can wait.

We’re here because that version of gaming deserves a place too. Not every player is looking to stream, grind or stay up to date with every headline. Some of us just want to talk about good games, reflect on the ones that stuck with us and share how they fit into an adult life.

We talk about the stuff that hits differently when you’re older. The stories that make you think. The comfort games that help you breathe out after a long day. The moments where you look at the clock and know you should sleep, but head to another blip on an open world map.

NightMode Gaming is part blog, part community, part late-night chat. It’s a mix of game recommendations, reflections and stories. We cover new and old games, big and small, as long as they fit what we’re about depth, comfort, and good design that respects your time. Fuck Fortnight.

We’ll talk about games that help you relax, ones you can play with your kids, and the ones you come back to again and again.

Nights are peaceful, nights are quiet, until the CPU fan spins up.
